Performing ArtsOpportunities abound for LRCA student thespians to step on stage. Each year there are two theatre performances, a fall drama as well as a spring musical. Under the direction of full time drama teacher, Amanda Furry, the 2007-2008 performances have included Nicholas Nickelby by Charles Dickens and the musical Fiddler on the Roof. Additional avenues for dramatic expression can be found in the extra –the production of the senior play, spring talent show, and student chapel presentations. Students of all ages have the opportunity to experience the joy of dramatic expression from kindergarten through twelfth grade whether through individual classroom presentations, grade level chapel programs or extracurricular activities. Our high school drama classes survey principals of drama and development of theatre production through practical hands-on experience. Students will explore a variety of perspectives, including the audience, the playwright, the actor, the designer, and the director. They also learn to consider the process, style, organization of written and performed drama, increasing their knowledge and enjoyment of theatre.
