College Guidance

The Office of College Programs at LRCA is an important and individualized process that begins in grade nine and continues through the end of the senior year.  Students are counseled and provided the tools to navigate the increasingly competitive and complicated college search process.

Each fall LRCA hosts over 100 college admissions officers to meet LRCA students and share the programs and features of their respective colleges.  The office also gives information such as scholarships, financial aid and other tools to help students and families pay for college.

With its thirteenth graduating class in 09, LRCA is rapidly gaining a national reputation for graduating extremely well prepared students, who are individuals of character.  Top colleges from around the country come to campus to recruit our students based on their academic, leadership, and athletic performance.

PrepHQ

Students and families of LRCA seniors are encouraged to register on PrepHQ to help with college searches, organizing the college process and to help with communications with the Office of College Programs.

Through PrepHQ, students can start a search of colleges and universities throughout the US. The search can be detailed by state, size, major and many other criteria. Information found on each college would include, cost, entering ACT and GPA of the freshmen classes and much more. Students are able to select their favorite colleges, and keep a list, which enables the office to pass important scholarship or information, specifically on certain colleges, to students who are interested in that college or university.

Students are encouraged to check PrepHQ regularly for national and local scholarships.  PrepHQ gives the student the ability to compile a resume needed by many colleges and for teacher recommendations. There are links to financial aid help and other resources to give you all the tools to make planning for a college easier.

PrepHQ is also a communications portal. Not only do students find calendar events such as college fairs and college reps visits scheduled on campus, the student and their parents will receive an email on a visit by a college rep from their “college favorites” list.

Lastly, PrepHQ is a great tracking portal for the Office of College Programs. PrepHQ keeps track of where students are applying, what scholarships they have received and what information has been sent to the college on behalf of students. With this information available the Office of College Programs is better equipped to assist students in the transition from Little Rock Christian to the higher education institution of their choice.
