Fall 2007 Tennis Team Results

The boys’ tennis team finished as State Runner-Up as well as 5A West Conference Runner-Up this year. During the regular season, the boys’ team only lost one match which was to a 7A school.  The team had five players advance to the State Tournament:  Hall Fess (singles), Noah Brinker and Stephen Williams (doubles), Matt Holiman and Eric McLeod (doubles).  Both girls’ doubles teams which consisted of Lilly Seay and Lauren Leggett, and Mary Elizabeth Sixbey and Hayden Miller, just missed qualifying for State despite a great season with several key victories over tough opponents.  The teams were piloted by the strong Sr. leadership of Lilly Seay and Jonathan Randle.  Underclassman, Tyler Benda and Matthew Feurtado also contributed positively to the success of the boys’ season.

At State, Jr. Hall Fess finished as State Champion in Singles, and the boys’ team took State Runner-Up.  From there Hall competed at the State Overall Tournament where he defeated State Champions and State Runner-Ups from 2A-7A in straight sets advancing to the championship match.  Hall finished at State Overall Runner-Up.  Part of his championship match was featured on THV channel 11 news.

The tradition of strong Warrior tennis continues and will continue in the years ahead thanks to the dedication and commitment of the players and their parents.
