Friday, February 9 through Sunday, February 11, 2007 the Model United Nations club represented Little Rock Christian Academy in the prestigious Mid South Model United Nations conference. After attending a private group tour of Rhodes College, we went straight to work. From opening ceremonies to the closing ceremonies, our delegates worked long hours (finishing at 10pm and back at 8:30) trying to solve the world's dilemnas.
Position papers that outline Benin's political and social stances were submitted. Benin was represented in 6 committees such as ECOSOC, SOCHUM, ECOFIN, and SPECPOL where topics ranging from international nuclear disarmament and global finances to the status of women and children were debated. Our tireless delegates then authored 5 resolutions that were passed in committees and three of those passed in the General Assembly. Additionally we were represented in the International Press Corp by Megan Snipes who created wonderful news releases for the conference. Congratulations to all of our delegates for their skillful presentations.
