LRCA Middle School Student Makes a Difference at 'Our House'

Kayla Jimmerson, middle school student at Little Rock Christian Academy, raised $1,300 for Our House, a local shelter which provides the working homeless with housing, job training, education, free childcare and summer youth programs, in order to equip them with skills to be successful.

As part of a leadership class assignment with middle school teacher Keri Ingraham, Kayla chose Our House as the recipient of her project.  She was inspired to give to this organization after attending a Kidz RAP service day at LRCA with her elementary sister.  Kidz RAP donated hundreds of coats to Our House, so Kayla went online and researched the center and decided she would also get involved.

This young go-getter sold concessions to students at recess in order to raise the money for Our House.  Her efforts were assisted by middle school classmates, Grace Wilson and Hannah Fiser.

Director of Our House, Georgia Mjartan said, “Students like Kayla and others who have volunteered here at Our House from Little Rock Christian are the exception to the rule.  They set the precedent and are so genuine in their desire to serve.  We are so thankful for this generous donation.”
