LRCA Elementary Celebrates 'Now I Lay Me Down To Read Day'
January 14, 2011
Our Elementary students and faculty dressed in warm PJ’s today in celebration of one of the main essentials of education….READING! Today is officially “Now I Lay Me Down to Read Day” here at Little Rock Christian Academy and the students are excited! They came prepared with blankets, sleeping bags, snuggies, pillows and most importantly, their favorite books! Each child found a comfortable spot in the classroom and set up their special reading zone. Snacks were served throughout the day to give them food for the brain!
This morning, four LRCA elementary leaders: Mrs. Chami, Mrs. Wren, Mrs. Murry and Mrs. Johnson narrated favorite books and poems from throughout the ages in a “Reader’s Theater”. The children sat cozy in their pajamas along the floor of the Elementary Activities Building and listened and laughed along with the stories. They clapped at the end of each story eager and ready for another.
Dr. Arnold, Jason Carson, Dr. Turner, Coach Kramer, Robyn Dodson and lots of other parents and staff were assigned to individual classrooms to read their very own childhood favorites. It was a special day for our elementary students… a very special day to catch up on a little reading!
