LRCA Names New Head Basketball CoachFilling the coaching shoes of Dewey Pennell is not easily accomplished. Mr. Pennell’s mark on Warrior athletics, especially basketball, is clear and recorded in the history book. Closing the season as the top seed in our division does not happen by chance. It is earned by hard work, strong play and great coaching. Join us as we honor the legacy of Warrior ball by hiring a proven coach who loves Jesus Christ and the game of basketball.
Coach Winkelman comes to us from a successful tenure of coaching basketball at Pulaski Academy. Prior to PA, Mr. Winkelman coached and taught at Hendrix College. He holds an M.S. in Kinesiology from University of North Texas. A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, Chuck is married to Denise and brings three children to LRCA. The WInkelman’s worship God at Parkway Place Baptist Church. When asked “Why do you wish to teach in a Christian school?” Mr. Winkelman responded: “Like-mindedness … pursuing ‘excellence’ for His glory not just for ourselves … helping students grow in their faith and have a biblical perspective on life… We cannot be a Christian school in name only; we must live out our faith in a way that pleases and glorifies Him.” Well said, Coach. Welcome to Warriorville. We believe God prompted Coach Winkelman to make the move to Highway 10. He knows our mission and wants to be a part of it. We look forward to cheering on a new season of play and watching Coach Winkelman train up a new battalion of warriors on the court. |

After receiving two dozen inquiries and applications for the position of head boys’ basketball coach, we narrowed our focus to two candidates. Yesterday, Coach Chuck Winkelman signed with LRCA to serve as the head boys’ basketball coach and complement his coaching with select teaching duties.
