RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY PLANNED FOR LITTLE ROCK CHRISTIAN ACADEMY’S CAMPUS TRANSFORMATION

Little Rock – July 7, 2009

Little Rock Christian Academy has announced it will hold a campus wide ribbon cutting ceremony on August 17, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.  The new High School, Middle School, renovated Elementary School, as well as the Fine Arts Center will be open for tours.  Students and families are invited to drop in to say hello to their teachers and administrators as they celebrate the completion of the project.  The Little Rock Chamber of Commerce will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony on August 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.  for the LRCA community.

The new high school will include 31 classrooms and additional science and computer labs.  It will also contain a state of the art media center and office areas such as guidance and student services.   A larger, more versatile dining commons will accommodate the growing student population.

The campus transformation project includes moving the middle school into the existing high school building.  This will significantly improve the educational facilities for LRCA students in grades 6-8.  This space will allow middle school academic classes to reside under one roof: gaining a library, enhanced technology and science labs, larger classrooms and a more contemporary cafeteria.

The relocation of the middle school will allow the current multi-purpose building to be dedicated for elementary school use.  Elementary students will enjoy the benefit of an art room, music room, computer labs, and gymnasium.   As a capstone, a canopy will be erected to protect students from inclement weather during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.

Extracurricular activities at LRCA will benefit from the campus transformation as well.  To accommodate the growth of the band, choir and art programs the newly designated fine arts building will be renovated to increase the capacity for art, drama and music studios.  The new Warrior field house will upgrade the athletic facilities with a new weight room, locker rooms, storage space and staff offices.

The fundraising total-to-date is $7.9 million pledged with $1.1 million needed to complete the overall $9 million goal.  According to the Head of School Dr. Gary Arnold, “It is very gratifying and exhilarating to serve a school community that is devoted to both educational excellence and the critical partnership between home, church and school.  That’s what our campus represents – partnership!”For additional information on “For Such a Time as This” and its progress please visit www.littlerockchristian.com/giving/index.aspx.
