2011-12 BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Stuart Miller
Mr. Miller serves as the chairman of the Board of Trust and we are blessed from his vision-casting and problem-solving skills. Mr. Miller, an attorney at the Mitchell Williams Law Firm, is an Elder at Fellowship Bible working with Fellowship Student Ministries. He also serves on the board of Under Grace Ministries and volunteers with Glenhaven Youth Ranch. Stuart is married to Mitzi, and they have two daughters, an LRCA 2011 graduate and a high school senior.
Cindy Burson
Mrs. Burson has served on the Board since 2006, devoting considerable time to her role as Board representative on the LRCA Admissions Committee. She holds a B.S. in Natural Science from the University of Arkansas as well as a B.S.in Physical Therapy from the University of Central Arkansas. Her husband, Tim, is a neurosurgeon who practices in Little Rock. They have two high school sons at LRCA, and a pre-school son who enjoys learning at home with mom. The Burson family attends Geyer Springs First Baptist Church.
William Clark
Mr. Clark is the CEO of Clark Contractors. He currently serves on foundation boards for UAMS, Arkansas Children's Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital, and the Rockefeller Cancer Institute as well as the corporate board of directors for Simmons First Bank. William and his wife, Christy, have three sons at LRCA and he can often be found coaching their baseball teams. They are members of Chenal Valley Church where William serves as a deacon.
Gary Cooper
Mr. Cooper holds the position of LRCA Board Secretary.He is a tax partner with JPMS Cox in Little Rock and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arkansas Society of CPA’s. Gary also serves on the board for the Central Arkansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes.He and his wife, Monica, have two daughters at LRCA, and they are members of Fellowship Bible Church.
Carla Emanuel
Mrs. Emanuel is a homemaker and volunteer extraordinaire, with responsibilities on the Cancer Institute Auxiliary Board and fundraising for the Cancer Institute Foundation.She brings the gifts of discernment and compassion to her service on the Board of Trustees.Carla and her husband, Peter, have three children, including two LRCA graduates.The Emanuels worship at Fellowship Bible Church.
Scott Ford
Mr. Ford was President of Alltel from 1996 to 2001 and continued as CEO until its 2009 sale to Verizon .He currently invests in public and private securities, and provides financial advisory services through Westrock Capital Partners. Scott is a former chairman of the Little Rock Branch of the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank, a former board member and chairman of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA), and a former director of Tyson Foods, Inc. He also serves on the boards of the Arkansas Research Alliance, The King's College in New York City and Cityfest 2.0. He and his wife, Dede, are members of Fellowship Bible Church and have three sons, two LRCA graduates and a current senior.
David Gatewood
Mr. Gatewood is the Chief Financial Officer for Pollution Management, Inc. in Little Rock. Having also served a previous term on the Board, he holds the responsibility of Chair of the Finance Committee. David and his wife, Debbie, have graduated two students from Little Rock Christian and attend Fellowship Bible Church where he also serves as an Elder.
Mark Leverett
Mr. Leverett is a District Judge in Little Rock and a deacon and Sunday School teacher at St. Mark Baptist Church. He and his wife, Kim, have two middle school daughters at LRCA. In addition to serving on our board, he also is on the board of P.A.R.K. Ministries. Mark has a passion for reaching potential students in our community.
Harry Li
Mr. Li is a pastor at Mosaic Church of Central Arkansas and uses his gifts of teaching and discernment as he assists with the LRCA chapel program. He serves on the leadership board of The Nehemiah Network (a relational network of pastors) and is involved in the city-wide prayer movement for pastors. Harry's wife, Melanie, is part of LRCA's Learner Services team and they are the parents of three daughters, an LRCA graduate and two current students.
Pat Millwee
Mr. Millwee is a First Vice President - Investments and Wealth Management Advisor with Merrill Lynch where he has practiced since 1986. He has served on the LRCA Board of Trust since 2004, assuming key leadership roles over the years. He and his wife, Bke, have a high school student at Little Rock Christian as well as a 2004 graduate. The Millwees attends Fellowship Bible Church where Pat leads a small group Bible study for high school boys.
Britton Nowell
Mr. Nowell is a private banking financial executive at Arvest Bank of Little Rock and has been in the financial services industry since 1993. He is active in the community as a board member of the Arkansas Rice Depot and as coach of several elementary level basketball and soccer teams. Britton and his wife, Becky, attend Covenant Presbyterian Church and are parents to two LRCA students.
Rene Proctor
Mrs. Proctor is a Certified Public Accountant and a committed volunteer of the Parent Teacher Fellowship at LRCA. Her board service includes participation on the Finance Committee. She and her husband, Scott, are active members at Geyer Springs First Baptist and are the parents of four LRCA students.
Mike Rainwater
Mr. Rainwater is a former LRCA Board Chair as well as a former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. He has been in private law practice since 1980, currently with Rainwater, Holt & Sexton, P.A. Mike’s wife, Kathy, is a former Walnut Valley/LRCA board member. They have three grown sons who attended LRCA from kindergarten through graduation.Mike and Kathy are members of Immanuel Baptist Church, where they teach twelfth grade Sunday school.
Ken Shew
Mr. Shew is sales manager for Genentech and an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He also serves with the Pulaski Baptist Association. Ken shares his gifts of faith and service to the LRCA Board. He is married to Tasha, who works in school's development office, and they are parents to two LRCA students.
Cara Wade
Mrs. Wade is the Director of Communications at Baptist Health. An active member of Immanuel Baptist Church , she also serves the church as the nominating committee chairperson. Mrs. Wade is a past president and current board member of the Little Rock Old State House. Cara and her husband, Guy, have three sons at LRCA.
Steve Wade
Steve is the Little Rock community President for Simmons First National Bank and is active on several community boards including Heart of Arkansas United Way, Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, American Bankers Association, Pleasant Valley Country Club and Club 99 Foundation of the Rotary Club of Little Rock. Steve’s role on the LRCA board includes chairing the Committee on Trust. Mr. Wade is married to Ginger, a LRCA middle school teacher, and is the father of two LRCA graduates. The Wade family attend Immanuel Baptist Church where he teaches adult Sunday school..
Ray Williams
Mr. Williams is a previous Board Chair from the Walnut Valley days and returned to board service in 2006.He is a pastor at Fellowship Bible Church and is the Board Chairman of the The Nehamiah Network. Passionate about making Christian education available to many, Ray also serves on the board of Vision Christian Academy in Southwest Little Rock. His wife, Carolyn, was a veteran teacher at LRCA, and they have two grown daughters.
