Little Rock Christian Academy
The LRCA Story
est 1977

For 31 years, Little Rock Christian Academy has witnessed the hand of God at work among us. Since 1977, thousands of students, families and educators have pursued a vision to place Jesus Christ at the center of all learning.

This is a powerful vision for it enables us to:

  • encourage the home, church and school to walk together in harmony and purpose.
  • balance academics, the arts and athletics to the glory of God.
  • foster the image of God in the body, mind and soul of our students.

No matter what the focus - calculus, drawing, biology, phonics, choir, football, cross country – the teachers and coaches of Little Rock Christian Academy teach with a contagious purpose. We believe this makes a difference in the character, achievement and maturation of our students.  We invite you to come and discover the difference.

History of Little Rock Christian Academy

In early 1977, a church committee was appointed to study the possibility of starting a Christian school at the Bible Church of Little Rock. Since the church was located in the Walnut Valley subdivision the committee recommended that Walnut Valley Christian Academy (WVCA) begin in September. Kindergarten and a combined first and second grade were started with 11 students, all girls. Two teachers were hired and WVCA became a reality.

Who would have seen from that day God's special plan for our school? We quickly outgrew the Bible Church facilities and expanded to the nearby Breckenridge Shopping Center just down the street. God continued to bless as we expanded, using over 23,000 square feet of space in the shopping center. In 1995, the search began for a place to call home. Home would be 30 acres along the developing Highway 10 corridor, which could support a comprehensive school program.

We saw the first high school graduating class in 1997. Today, graduating classes of nearly 100 students make their way to colleges throughout the nation. The beginning of the 2001 school year united the school on one campus for the first time in many years and with it another new beginning - not the end of Walnut Valley but the continuation of the great traditions under the new name Little Rock Christian Academy.

God has blessed our students with a variety of extraordinary gifts and talents. Graduating seniors attend colleges and universities all over Arkansas and the United States, including the Air Force Academy, West Point, Wheaton College, University of Virginia, Baylor University to list a few. From football to drama, from athletics to fine arts, our students have grown and experienced richness in the academic and extra-curricular areas. Today, our enrollment has grown to over 1,200 and continues to flourish each year.

God has guided each and every step we have taken over the last 30 years and we are grateful for His many blessings. We invite you to come and discover Little Rock Christian Academy.
