Alumni and Business Awards given at "Wild About Warriors 2018"
On Saturday, April 14, LRCA's Parent Teacher Fellowship hosted Wild About Warriors 2018 with an outdoor carnival twist, including outdoor games, activities, food trucks, and a special student showcase. During the event, the annual Alumni and Business Awards were given to two special recipients.
The Mark Webb Alumni Award:
Sarah Glenn Crabill, Class of 2008
“LRCA was instrumental in preparing me academically, emotionally and spiritually for college and beyond. Additionally, LRCA’s J-Term was an incredible opportunity to see if my passion for photography was just a hobby or career worthy. My final project, a photo book of the devastating storm that hit San Francisco in 2008, was a defining moment that led me down the path of professional photography.”
Now, Sarah is a freelance sports photographer. “Little did I know that I was one of only a few female sports photographers on that level paving that road. It took perseverance and the Lord’s favor to get where I am today.”
Sarah has been part of major sporting events such as an NBA championship, Rio Summer Olympic Games, NFL playoffs, NCAA football championships, NHL, PGA, NASCAR championships and others. Her work has also been published on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
She also photographs for study tours and missions from Israel to Africa. When not working in photography, she serves at LRCA’s elementary school. “The teachers and faculty in that building give everything they have every single day to further the education of the kids and advance the Kingdom of God. That is inspiring.”
The Hickingbotham Business Excellence Award:
Pediatrics Plus - Amy and Todd Denton
Pediatrics Plus translates seeing needs into filling needs every day not only as a stellar specialized pediatric healthcare provider, but also as a positive force at LRCA and in the community. Innovative ideas combined with huge hearts grew Pediatrics Plus in 15 years from a home-health therapy business serving a dozen families, to an established provider of a wide variety of services for more than 2,500 children with special needs and developmental delays.
Peds Plus first partnered with the LRCA PTF in 2014 as the sponsor for the school-wide fundraiser, Boosterthon, and then the following years for Warrior Blitz, a 10-day campaign encouraging school families to support the mission of LRCA through Annual Fund giving. Every year since, Peds Plus has graciously served as the Presenting Sponsor of Warrior Blitz. Additionally, Peds Plus has served as a Champ Sponsor of the Warrior Club Golf Tournament.
PTF President Elect and Warrior Blitz Chair Megan Garrison shares, “They do it because they truly love our school. Their sponsorship allows us to give our entire school community (staff and students) an incredible and fun 10 days of giving, prizes and celebrating. Because of their sponsorship, EVERY CENT raised during Blitz goes directly back in our school! The Denton family and Peds Plus don’t do it to get the glory, they know the glory belongs to God!”
