Flu Season Precautions
Flu season has arrived and the school nurses have tips to make sure that your child does not catch it.
Remind your children to wash their hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol based hand rub.
Remind your children to cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when they cough or sneeze. If a tissue is unavailable, cover using the elbow, arm or sleeve instead of the hand. Also, please remind them not to share food, drinks, or utensils.
Know the signs and symptoms of the flu. Symptoms include fever (100.4 degrees or greater), chills, body aches, cough, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, headache, and fatigue. Some people have diarrhea and vomiting.
Please send a water bottle to school every day. We are trying to reduce the use of the water fountain.
Keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever WITHOUT the use of fever reducing medication. Keeping children with a fever at home will reduce the number of people that may get infected.
If your child is feeling any of the listed symptoms from above, you can get them checked out quickly at the urgent care clinic just down the road from the school at 14524 Cantrell Rd.
