Warriors Swim Into History
The men's swim team, coached by Brian Gibson, made history recently by winning their first ever 5A State Championship. Little Rock Christian took first place with 248 points, 34 points more than the second place team. The combined men's and women's teams broke a total of 12 school records at the meet. The men's team broke a state record and received 28 medals, including two gold relay medals and two individual gold medals.
The 200-meter medley relay team, made up of Captain Jake McDonald (12), Matthew Ware (12), Jordan Jones (11) and John Isaac Majors (9), beat the state record with a time of 1.48.46. The same team also took gold in the men’s 200-meter free relay with a time of 1.35.47. Freshman John Isaac Majors took gold in the 100-meter freestyle and silver in the 50-meter freestyle. Jordan Jones won the 100-meter butterfly and came in second in the 200-meter backstroke. Jake McDonald also finished sixth in the 100-meter breaststroke. Sophomore Aiden Ross got fourth place in in the 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter backstroke.
Sophomore Angel Ke took home the gold for the women's 200-meter freestyle, and Freshman Hannah Hall won the 100-meter backstroke. The women's team finished sixth overall in the state and was the district runner up.
All-state honors went to Hannah Hall and Angel Ke for the women's team and Jordan Jones, John Isaac Majors, Jake McDonald and Matthew Ware for the men.
