Two Students Named National Merit Semifinalists and One Commended Student
Each September, high schools across the country anxiously await the results of the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Currently, more than 1.5 million students from about 21,000 schools enter the program by sitting for the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). This exam measures one's ability to understand and process elements of reading, writing, and mathematics. Approximately 16,000 of the high scorers, qualify as Semifinalists in each annual National Merit Competition.
Since 1955, more than 400,000 students have been awarded scholarships worth over $1.6 billion in the National Merit Scholarship Program, and 3 million students have been honored for their academic achievements. Since Little Rock Christian Academy began graduating students in 1997, 64 Warriors have earned National Merit Semifinalist designation and another 12 claim the designation of Commended scholar.
