The Early Childhood through Elementary Curriculum is designed to prepare students for lifelong learning by building a strong academic base while fostering spiritual and social growth in a loving, accepting environment. God's Word, the foundation of our curriculum, is taught as a subject and is integrated into all other areas and activities.
Along with core subjects Bible, Math, History/Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar, Listening and Speaking), students participate in enrichment classes such as Music, Art, Physical Education, Library, and STEM Lab activities.
In this article, Dr. Justin Smith, LRCA Upper School Head and Vice President, describes the Harkness approach of collaboration and learning. The Harkness table offers a neutral, safe place for students to test out ideas, interpretations, and applications with peers and an expert teacher. Not only do students grow in their understanding of content, they also develop invaluable communication skills as they navigate discussions and learn to learn from others, digging deeper and using textual evidence to support their points.
We are excited about the incredible selection of programs available this summer! LRCA Summer Programs has a wide variety of camps and courses for students of all ages in areas of academics, arts, athletics and enrichment.
