"Head in the Ceiling" by Preston Moore
The main goal of this piece was to make something both abstract and provocative.
I chose to use stark colors like black and white to make the viewer focus on tiny details like streaks of ink or droplets on the cardboard. While I don't necessarily feel that the piece was planned to look like this from the beginning, it was always meant to be something that felt striking.
The figure in the middle was never meant to be fully defined; just a blank space for the viewer to imagine a personality in.
Finally, the newspaper on the side was meant to provoke some sense of reality, that the piece was indeed living in some way.
