Dear Warriorville:

I am heartbroken to share with you that Rachel Ekenseair, our eighth grade Biblical Worldview teacher (on medical leave), passed away this morning ending a long fight with cancer.

Like all of you who knew her, we are grieving the loss of our friend.  Yet, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is in the presence of the Lord with a new body and no more pain. Welcomed into heaven by a chorus of angels, we can only imagine...

Rachel dedicated her life to serving the Lord, teaching others about Him, and sharing His love with all those around her.  She was never shy in sharing her faith, and because of her faith in Christ, she is experiencing that love completely now in His presence. I am receiving testimony after testimony about her impact on the eternal lives of students, her peers and her family. This woman loved Jesus and, while with us, was more concerned about the burdens of others than she was her own situation.

Please pray for our students who had Mrs. Ekenseair as a teacher. They are especially laid low by this unexpected news.

There have been inquires about how to help the family. Specifically, many of you have asked if it's possible to bring the Ekenseair twins, John Jr. and Gabby, to Little Rock Christian Academy. Rachel's husband, John, is deeply moved  by your compassion. Speaking with Mrs. Chami and Mrs. Brandt, our arms are out-stretched for the twins.

In honor of Rachel, contributions for this transfer are now being accepted to the LRCA Benevolence Fund. Is this something you would like to bless?

A young wife, a mother of two adopted twins, a devoted teacher of the Bible, a lover of children, a prayer warrior -  how can it be the right time for the Lord to call her Home? This tests our faith. But, our faith is secure in Jesus. As our theme underscores, "We Believe!" We believe Jesus is "the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will never die, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." (John 11:25-26). Jesus asked in the same breath, "Do you believe this?" (John 11:26)

Yes, Lord, I do. I pray you do, too.

We will surely need to encourage each other in the coming days and weeks as we process this loss together.  Please know you are not alone.  More information will come soon regarding funeral arrangements.

Standing with you,

Gary B. Arnold, Ed.D.
